María Cristina Kiehr, voice
Krishnasol Jiménez, baroque guitar
Roberto Koch, bass
This programme interleaves the music of the Spanish composers Santiago de Murcia (1673–1739) and Gaspar Sanz (1640–1710) with Son Jarocho, present-day folk music from Veracruz in South Mexico, that is strikingly akin to its Spanish baroque counterpart. More specifically, we combine these traditional songs with the Spanish baroque music played on the original tablature for baroque guitar.
The harmony created by the combination of the baroque guitar playing the original sources composed for this instrument and the colascione improvising a bass line, are further enhanced by the outstanding voice of María Cristina Kiehr.
